A Titan’s PVP guide to overcoming Stasis sub class.

Alright, alright, alright! My bad, that’s the wrong intro! I should be saying THIS IS AMAZING! — Shaxx I found myself shouting during a 6 vs 6 Control match.

As I swung around the corner with a frontal assault punch, equipped with Synthocep double damage and my trusty Seventh Seraph shotgun. As a PVE (Player Versus Environment) focused player, entering competitive modes had been at the bottom of my list.

So what had changed?

Well, I had become interested after spending some time watching my friend KazPhD’s live streams on www.twitch.tv/kazphd

I first met Kaz after spending some time engaging in the chat during a regular live stream. That night he was sharing with his audience why he loved Destiny lore and wished or hoped that the Vanguard would continue to walk in the way of the light.

He helps players through Strikes, Exotic Quests and Legendary Lost Sectors, they also include a lot of friendly 3 versus 3 elimination.

After watching those streams and seeing the positive outlook it changed the way I played the game in many very surprising ways.

What Changed First

Well, I made the switch to change class. Pre Beyond Light I had always been a Warlock and in my heart of hearts, I will always remain true to this class. But, the allure of the Titan took me back to the days of Destiny 2 closed beta when I played as this soldier style class I felt like Captain America.

Who wouldn’t want to dash around a sprawling open-world map feeling like a superhero? I for one didn’t want to miss out on that experience.

But PVP is dead right? No one plays PVP!

Okay! Before you get on your soapbox, Destiny 2 is about playing the game your way (within the parameters Bungie have created). Anyone can complain, it requires no effort. And although it may be merited, a complaint without a positive solution or answer to the problem only encourages more negativity.

This week I asked my fellow Destiny 2 players a question. The question was: If Destiny 2 ended today what would play instead?

I received a lot of answers. Some included a mixture of games they would enjoy playing, while others wanted to take the time to consider what they would move to next. Because who doesn’t love an incredible SciFi game?

Stasis

The often dreaded new element. It’s safe to say it has changed the way players engage within a PVP map. Is it possible that Stasis has actually improved the way we play? Not convinced? Alright, well, it’s only me then. I can see for myself that my general map awareness has improved.

Sometimes I catch myself looking at my radar instead of my field of view, only reacting when I can tell an enemy is nearby.

Although recently the Hunter shatterdive AoE spread was reduced, it still feels the same. That could be due to stasis dusk fields or stasis grenades having their own set of fall off and AoE (Area of Effect) damage calculations. Having been in combat against Hunter shatterdives, it can be challenging to overcome and super annoying, but you can defend against it.

My Solution To Stasis

While experimenting with the Striker Titan I was able to develop what I like to call The One Punch Man Build. This is my personal build and what I run in PVP only.

Arc Subclass

n my own build, I have opted for the bottom tier tree: Striker. I don’t know if any other Titans agree?

When it comes to using your super, there is a certain level of dexterity that is added when moving across a map like a locomotive benefiting from:

- Frontal Assault
- Trample
- Reversal
- Knockout

If you ever get frozen by an enemy player, use your super and you will immediately break free from the ice, leaving a wake of lightning below your feet. This is good for those last-second close calls when a Behemoth Titan or Revenant Hunter try to run in for a finishing blow.

Synthocep Arms

As I mentioned above, Synthoceps are incredible and very underrated! They offer incredible base stats and any Titan would enjoy them.

They offer:

- Increased Melee Lunge range
- Improved Melee and Super damage when you’re surrounded

With the latter being the basis of my build, you can’t go wrong here. But it pays to read the environment, know your enemy.

Arc is a good subclass because most PvP players never expect running into an Arc based subclass, everyone is too busy focusing on Stasis. This isn’t wrong in particular but they don’t always fair well.

My Chosen Gear set

Yes, Gear is everything! That means you need to invest a considerable amount of time into getting some, but what’s most important is finding out what works for you.

Whilst it’s enjoyable borrowing or using something else’s build, you aren’t that person. So it will leave you feeling like you are wearing the wrong shoes.

Below I have left an example of what I’m running, it’s not perfect, and I’m happy about that, it is experimental and forever evolving.

Try out different pieces of gear, as there is no rule written that says you have to do things in a particular order. So remember to have fun with this, it is a game. Play the way you want to play.

I am by no means an expert when it comes to battling it out against other players, so don’t take my word for it. What I will say is, life is short so don’t get hung up on everything not happening the way you hoped or imagine, negativity is a seed. Once you sow it, it is challenging to break out of it.
