Xivu Arath is coming and Mara Sov returns.

So, The Dreaming City in Destiny 2 plays a key part in the lore, but I wish the fascinating lore (behind/of) this mystical place came up more in discussions.

We are currently 15 days away from season end! 😱 Can you feel the excitement? If you are new to the Destiny story or returning, allow me to bring you up to speed: This city belongs to “Awoken”, a race of beings that were originally human, who were caught in a conflict between the para causal powers of The Traveler (Light) and The Pyramids (Darkness). The collision of forces transformed them forever.

Their world is believed to be in the distributary, an unknown realm of space located in the Ascendant realm.

Why is this important?

In the Forsaken campaign, Cayde-6 was killed by Uldren Sov. The light from Cayde-6 death triggered a number of changes in the universe, while you, as the player, took matters into your own hands. You aim to kill Uldren and ultimately Riven — Of a Thousand Voices, the last Ahamkara (otherwise known as a wish dragon) who hated Mara Sov (Queen of Awoken) and her people for imprisoning Riven and keeping her against her will.

The power released from Riven placed the city in a calamitous loop of disaster and darkness that repeats itself every two weeks. No one has been able to lift this curse placed on the Dreaming City.

After Uldren Sov Died, the Traveler brought him back but this time as a changed person. Now resurrected as a Guardian of the light, he goes by the name Crow and has aided us in fighting back the wrath born creations of (Oryx’s sister?) Xivu Arath, sister to Savathun, The Witch Queen.

With each season there is quiet before the storm, as Bungie works behind the scenes to craft another epic narrative story.

With only two weeks left, what can we expect? Since the beginning of the Season of The Hunt, Hive Cryptoliths had begun to appear in several places across the sol system (Solar System). Within the seasonal trailer, two clips in particular reveal new areas and possible progression of the overall story.

I have a theory! Next season (season 13) will delve deeper into the Hive Celebrant story. We will hopefully learn more about Xivu Arath, who may extend her reach into many planets as she continues gathering her army. Understand that she is attempting to mimic her brother Oryx by taking control of other races in the Destiny universe, using King Oryx’s ideas, but via Cryptoliths.

There are also rumours that Darkness Crux will begin to appear in the Dreaming City, it is yet to be seen whether or not the Pyramids are truly aligned to a specific race (minus the Vex (The Vex are a cyber-organic species)) or take control of all worlds in a race to outmanoeuvre the Traveler.

Story Easter Eggs!

Before I close out, here is an Easter egg, having made choices that lead to her responsibilities being left to the likes of Petra, Mara Sov is coming back!

Where from you, ask? I believe she is making her way from the Ascendant Realm. I know what you’re screaming; Does she know about Uldren becoming Crow? I don’t know, however, here is a sound bite to get your taste buds going 👇 Enjoy!
